A Little Bit about Amy

Amy Hahn

I was born and raised in Anniston, Alabama.  After high school, I attended Auburn University (WAR EAGLE) and then relocated to the Crystal Coast of North Carolina to be near my mom.  After leaving the Crystal Coast in 1993, I spent three years working for the National Parks and traveling around the country.  I spent my summers at The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone in Wyoming where I worked in the accounting department and the winters in The Florida Everglades in Flamingo, Florida, where I met my husband (he's from Wisconsin)Amy Hahn.  I settled down with my husband, Roger, in Naples, Florida in 1996.  There I attended school at the Veterinary Technical Institute and worked as a veterinary technician for 8 years.  In my spare time, I worked as a volunteer for Domestic Services for Animals, providing assistance in Microchip and vaccination clinics and rescuing homeless animals.  I often served as a foster home until placing them with proper families (quite often my own home).  In January, 2005, Roger and I welcomed our new son, Tanner into our family and realized that the only place we wanted to raise a child was Carteret County.Amy Hahn Photo  Carteret County is a wonderful, family-oriented community with some of the best schools Nationwide.  There are so many wonderful things available for families...the beach, soccer leagues, history, parks and camps...The list goes on & on.

After my family and I moved home, to Morehead City, North Carolina,  I began work as personal assistant to the Pine Knoll Shores Realty Dream Team in May of 2005.  I love spending time with my family, which in addition to husband Roger anAmy Hahnd son Tanner (who is now 7 years old), includes 4 cats and 1 spoiled rotten dog.  I enjoy all the coastal recreation but especially sailing on Bogue Sound and shelling on the beautiful beaches of Shackleford Island.Amy Hahn

While working as an assistant, I began training to be the best REALTOR® possible prior to entering the sales force.  I earned my salesman and brokers license in 2006 and am a 2006 graduate of Leadership Carteret County through the Local Chamber of Commerce.  I currently serve on the Steering Committee for Leadership Carteret.  I was selected as the Carteret County Rookie of the Year in 2007 and also in 2007 received the Women's Council of REALTORS® Member of the Year Award. I am very proud to serve as Past President for Women's Cou
Amy Hahn Photoncil of REALTORS®, Crystal Coast Chapter and truly enjoy the support and education I receive through my local chapter as well as nationally. I recently had the opportunity to serve on a Best Practices panel at the National Conference in San Diego, and have served on panels in the past on Social Media and Technology.  In 2009 I was honored as the Carteret County REALTOR® of the Year, and as a "Rising Star" through the North Carolina Association of REALTORS®.  I served as the 2011 President for The Carteret County Association of REALTORS® and continue to serve my local association in every way I can.  I have recently started teaching,   "Basic Blogging" through my local board and  I am excited about the opportunity to learn and grow as I teach others about something I love and find so much success with.

I am very active in my community and serve on the advisory board for the local Boys & Girls Club, Sunshine Lady Club, and the Scholarship Committee  for the  Carteret County Association of REALTORS®.  I support Habitat for Humanity and build every chance I get.  Relay for Life and Toys 4 Tots are also high on my list and I help with as much time as I can possibly give.  I serve on the Lay Ministry of my church, St. Francis by the Sea Episcopal Church in Salter Path, and am very thankful for my church family...Especially, Father Everett.

A Little Bit about the Crystal Coast

Amy Hahn Photo

The Crystal Coast of North Carolina is a beautiful area and has so much to offer.  The Crystal Coast is made up of several small towns along the gorgeous Central East Coast of North Carolina.  If you love the sand and sea, you are sure to love the Crystal Coast area.  Whatever your needs, one of our many communities can fill them.

Historic Beaufort is famous for Blackbeard and other pirate adventures.  You will find the Maritime Museum, Historical Society, Hammock House (where Blackbeard is believed to have lived) and a fabulous boardwalk to enjoy the waterfront and watching the wild horses on Taylor's Creek. While there, visit Clawson's for a great meal and then head over to the fudge factory and watch as they create some of the tastiest treats around or maybe head over to the general store for some yummy ice cream.

Morehead City is Amy Hahn Photocentrally located on the Crystal Coast and has some of the best antique shops found anywhere.  On the waterfront, you'll find many restaurants offering some of the best local seafood, "Carteret Catch".  The History Place and the Train Depot are just a couple of examples of fun things to do in Morehead City.  Every October, Morehead City hosts the Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival with rides, concerts, games, boat tours and yes....SEAFOOD!

On the island of Bogue Banks you'll fall in love with Atlantic Beach where you'll find Fort Macon State Park, and well maintained beach front walkways at "The Circle".  Relax on the beach and watch the surfers or just kick back and soak up the sun.  Stop by Wings, Berts Surf Shop or Sandi's and pick up everything you need for the beach; chairs, towels, toys, swim suits, etc.

Pine Knoll Shores is situated amongst the trees in the Roosevelt Natural Area and several thousand people migrate there each summer to visit the North Carolina Aquarium located right in the center of town. In Pine Knoll Shores, you will find some of the most beautiful subdivisions and nature is very sacred in the area.   The quaint fishing village of Indian Beach is lined with colorful shops, Local Seafood markets and beach cottages along with some of the newest condominiums on the island.

Emerald Isle has a lot to offer from restaurants, shopping at Emerald Plantation, water parks and Miniature golf courses.  Emerald Isle is home to the annual St. Patricks Day festival, and much more.  If you are looking for a great investment property, Emerald Isle is bound to have something that catches your eye.  Vacation Rentals are a big thing!

Newport is located just outside of Morehead City, and is just a few minutes from Cherry Point in Havelock.  Newport is most famous for their Annual Pig Pickin' every summer where people from all over drive in for some of the best Carolina Bar-b-q in the state.  The Crystal Coast fairgrounds are also located in Newport and host a number of events from Rodeos to the Circus.

Things Around Town

Clawson's 1905 Restaurant, Beaufort, NC

At Clawson's 1905, the food is fabulous, the service is even better, and the atmosphere is warm, fun, and welcoming.

At Clawson's, My only complaint is that their are too many wonderful items on the menu to choose from...and everything is soooooo tasty.  I chose the Shrimp Burger (YUM!), My sister chose their French Onion Soup and Mom chose the Clawson's Famous Shrimp Dirigible.  Throw a tall glass of Sweet Iced Tea with any of these items, and you've got perfection!

Fort Macon State Park in Atlantic Beach is a great place to visit, again and again Fort Macon State Parkand again.  The history is fascinating and the atmosphere is almost too real...they have done an amazing job with the props, so visitors really get a feel for what it must of been like for the soldiers who called the fort "Home" so many years ago.  Fort Macon is open daily for touring and offers a museum, bookstore and audio programs.  April through October, they offer guided tours, Civil War Reenactments, Musket Firing Demonstrations, Canon Firing and a Living History Program.   During the summer, the Fort also offers Concerts in the Park.  Pack a picnik lunch, bring the whole family and head to Fort Macon on Friday Nights...Don't forget your chairs or blanket.

The Country Club of the Crystal Coast in Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina is a semi-private course situated in the maritime forest on Bogue Banks Island. If you aren't in the mood for golf, relax on the soundfront patio area and enjoy the wildlife or enjoy one of the other many activities offered at the club.

Haunted House on the Hill, Beaufort, North Carolina

Hammock House

The "Hammock House" is dated as being built in 1709 (but may have been built as early as 1700) and is the oldest house in Beaufort, North Carolina.  In it's earliest years, it was referred to as "The White House" on area maps, but was later named the "Hammock House"Taylor's CreekHammock House is where he stayed while not at sea. for it's location on a hill or "Hummock".  When the house was first built, the waters from were close enough that small boats would often be seen tied to the front porch.  Over the years, the waters have receded and now Hammock House is considered third row from the Creek.  There are still many original things in the house.  One room in the lower level of the house has the original wood flooring and ceiling beams.  In the kitchen area, many original beams still remain and actually reveal stamps from 1700.  The stairs have been renovated, but are original to the house (more on the stairs in a bit). From what I have read and heard, No one knows for sure who built the house, but it is believed that Blackbeard built the house with plans brought from the Bahamas and Lumber, stones and other supplies from captured ships.  Whether he built the house or not, The Hammock House is where he stayed while not at sea.
