Morehead City Real Estate & Things to do!

The Golden Rule is Alive & Well in the Crystal Coast, NC!

Remember the Golden Rule?

Well, the folks on the Crystal Coast sure do!

As many of you know, we are recovering from a Hurricane here on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina.  Many REALTORS® have no office to work in right now, due to flooding and other damage.  Our office was flooded just enough to ruin the carpet and create a really bad smell.  The restoration company was in yesterday morning, cleaning & treating for mold and I had just stepped into the office to find that my Desktop had crashed when they threw the breakers (and yes, I was using a surge protector and a battery backup)!  Ouch!

Just as I discovered the "Crash", my phone rang.  An appraiser was at my listing (scheduled to close next week), but the one day code for the lockbox wouldn't work.  Could I please run over and let him in?  Well, unfortunately, I couldn't leave the office at the moment, and all of the other agents at Pine Knoll Shores Realty were out with clients.  I called Tim Bradford, with Golf & Shore Properties in Morehead City, just around the corner from my listing and asked a favor.  He was more than happy to help and even called me to let me know that the appraiser was in the house and he would be around if I needed anything else.  WOW.... I owe him one!

I was explaining Tim's kindness over lunch with friends, when the "Selling Team" from Realty World pulled up to chat.  They lost their office to flooding, and one agent commented that she had a new listing, but couldn't get the forms to the seller because, 1 - their office was destroyed and 2- she had no Internet at home.  Normally, agents in our area would stop by the board office and take care of business in this case, but our Local Board office suffered damage too, and has been closed for restoration.  This was my opportunity to pay it forward and I jumped at the chance.  I took her to my office and plugged in the laptop so she could take care of some business. She was very grateful for the use of our Internet, and the dry space to do a little work.  And I was happy to help!

Due to my desktop crashing, I had no way to update my keycard.  On my way home from the office, I stopped by The Star Team's RE office (the Star Team is one of our biggest competitors). When I entered with my Sentrilock card in hand, they quickly showed me to the nearest Card Reader and allowed me to update my card... adding that if we needed anything else while our office was going through restoration, to please let them know.  These things may seem small, but they sure do add up when times are tough.

These deeds are happening all over town, and of course, it's not just REALTORS.  It's Neighbors helping Neighbors, and applying the "Golden Rule".

Life is Good on the Crystal Coast!
